In 1906 W Hayter submitted plans for a pair of cottages by his architect (Geoffrey Lyons, Bloomsbury Square, London) to the Chailey Rural District Council for building regulations approval. The site of the proposed cottages was immediately south of Spring Gardens in Beddingham. The land was still owned by the Glynde Estate and, for some unknown reason, the cottages were never built.
The Glynde Estate still owned the land in 1920 when a slightly larger plot was sold to East Sussex County Council to erect a pair of cottages for the village policeman and a council roadman.glynde.info/history by Andrew Lusted & Chris Whitmore is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
